Lucy is a scared hound but just look at those eyes! She wants you to pet her She wants love and attention. Her eyes say it all! Lucy came to us from a puppy mill, a former breeder. She is a medium sized beagle girl that is just plain terrified of life. She will allow you to pet and love her reluctantly, on your terms - not hers - she just won’t settle in... However, you can tell that she WANTS to be brave. Lucy is good with other dogs but she is so afraid of humans that she doesn’t engage with them if you're near. She runs the fence line, making sure to keep a watchful eye out for people. She will follow behind you, carefully, cautiously, never getting closer than 8 feet or so. She has not displayed any aggression when we have TRIED to catch her in the yard. It's quite a game to her. She can be hard to corral. We can pick her up and carry her with no problem, although she is scared of that process. Lucy is currently slowly learning to walk on a leash, and we are confident she will learn in time. Just look at this sweet girl! You can see she WANTS to receive your love, she just doesn't know how to accept it. She wants to overcome her fears. Would you help her?
